Hi: I'm running two Dell computers, one a Dimension 4100 P3 1 GHz using Win
Me, and the other an OptiPlex P3 930 MHz using XP Professional. I run
Spybot Search and Destroy (http://security.kolla.de/) on both to find and
eliminate spyware. Each time I run Spybot, DSO Exploit is listed. It's
identified as a data source object exploit, and lists the following
registry
entry:
HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0\1004!\=W=3
The description says:
There's a security hole in IE allowing websites to execute code without
asking you first. You can find more information at
http://security.greymagic.com/adv/gm001-ie/ That site lists some fixes,
but I don't have the knowledge to try them.
I checked my registry for
HKEY_USERS_DEFAULT\software\microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings\Zones\0\1004,
and the value in the data field is just two double quotes "" . The value
never changes. So, maybe I don't have the problem even though Spybot finds
them.
Has anyone else seen this entry?
Jim
