Our county DEM received a laptop from the Coast Guard. Before the CG gave
us this laptop they sanitized the unit. I believe they did a HD reformat
and then loaded the Win98 SE OS and that was it. I was able to get sound
and video drivers from the Micron website. I was not able to get a proper
mouse driver from their web site and when I followed their email
instructions, I wound up with no mouse driver at all and it would not accept
any mouse driver. I wound up having to reformat the HD again and start from
scratch.
It is a Micron, TransPort Trek 2. It contains an Intel Pentium 2 processor.
Has a floppy drive and a CD drive with USB, serial and parallel ports.
Model No. NBKU376, P/N NBK001499-00, Manufacture date 1999,
S/N GZY00010135, then has another S/N 2275327-0001, it contains the Win98,
Second Edition operating system.
It contains both a Touch Pad and a Button Mouse Stick (not sure of the
correct terminology) in the keypad. That is the problem. I have not found
a driver that will recognize both devices. Right now using the default
Win98 SE mouse control, the Touch Pad works fine until you depress the left
or right mouse button. At that point you have to move the cursor with the
Mouse Stick . That works but is a pain. I would prefer a driver that just
uses the mouse pad alone or allows me to select the device I want to use.
If anyone has a driver for such a device that will work with Win98, I would
appreciate a copy of that file or a URL of where I can download it from.
Thanks,
