Scan disk runs best in Safe Mode. Restart and before windows starts hold
down F8. When presented with a list of options, chose Safe Mode. Run scan
disk and restart again when it is finished. I don't remember if defrag will
run in safe mode, but if it will, do it that way.

Need some help guys, I have a computer here that I'm tackling that has Win
98 and neither Scandisk not Disk Defrag will work properly, any ideas?
Last time any type of AV program was run was like 3 yrs ago, would putting a
active AV program, or the computer help in any way.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
