I recommend using one of the VCOM products shown at  http://www.v-com.com/
like SystemSuite or Fix-It Utilities for cleaning and defragmenting the
registry.  They do a much better job than anything from Norton.  The spyware
removal programs only remove spyware:  The spyware removal programs do not
remove leftover registry entries from other programs unless they are
directly related to spyware.  

Editing the registry manually is not something to be undertaken lightly.  It
requires a lot of skill and even more luck to be successful, unless you
don't mind reloading your operating system when something goes wrong.
