For manuals, try ebay---search "LaserJet III manual"...I just found qty 3
offers for around $6.00 on CD. Just print the section you need. Also note
there are repair kits available on ebay as well. You are wise to not just
"barge in". There are also a number of Xerox manuals on ebay. Once you
understand how these toner-based printers work, you can pretty much dig into
any of them for preventive maintenance.
Regarding ink, actually toner, try www.tonerrefillkits.com . These guys
sell kits through which you can refill your empty cartridge. They also sell
empty cartridges. After many years of spending $150-ish for LaserJet 5si
cartridges, I finally got fed up enough to try these guys...kit costs $34
plus one-time tools kit at $12.00. Good quality, great documentation, and
it works like a charm.
good luck
John Collins
