[Ham-Computers] Help With Printed Photo Size

Hi All, 	
	
Keep in mind that I am totally blind, as the answer to my question may be
obvious to those of you who can 'see'. 	
	
I scanned a schematic on an 8.5X11 piece of paper. The scanner is set to scan
the image at the same size. The resolution was the default, 150 pi, it was in
color and it was scanned as an image file. The result is a .bmp file, which I
did not want. I chose a .gif, as there was text and graphics. i saved it.	
	
When I tried to print it out it no longer fit on one piece of paper.	
	
Would it be because I saved it as a .gif be the reason? Or?
