The Automatic Updates tab should have a checkbox to "Keep my computer up to
date...". When this is enabled, then there should be three options
(settings) enabled below the checkmark. Summarized...
1. Notify before downloading and notify before installing updates.
2. Download updates when available but notify before installing.
3. Download updates and install at a scheduled time.
Here's a Microsoft Knowledgebase article on how to configure and use the
Automatic Updates features in WinXP...

p.s. BTW, the full SP2 download is over 200MB...definitely not recommended
over dial-up!

The last time I looked you had but one choice on the "Automatic Updates" tab
in WinXP/Home. You either decide upon "Automatic (recommended)" and specify
the interval and time of your choice, or decide to select any of the three
remaining choices. I don't find a provision for selecting more than one, as
the information below seems to suggest.
Does anyone else using WinXP/Home know now to make more than one choice?
