Loren,
I'll agree that if the batteries are already on hand, then they may as well
get used. They'd eventually go bad even if just sitting on the shelf. One
suggestion I'd make is to use a multi-pin connector with the positive lead from
each individual battery going to a separate pin and all of the negatives tied
together.
