Hi         This is where a little knowledge can be dangerous (me). I 
have taken any new harddrive and run test on the new drive until the 
drive is hot (operating temperature). I then fdisk and format the drive. 
The only reason for this is to get the drive fully expanded due to heat. 
I do believe that there is a temperature correction routine in the 
firmware/harware of the dirve and only heard about drive calibration 
from a site that covered why early CD writters failed to fully write a disk.

Others on this list may add more information.. I have yet to have a hard 
drive pack in.
