[Ham-Computers] Modem RFI

The first thing I would try is a ferrite core. Make sure to get one big
enough to be able to wrap the phone line through it at least two times.
Place the ferrite core as close to where the wire come out of the computer
as possible.

I think Radio Shack sells these as a friend of mine bought some there.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Modem RFI

My modem is cranking out some bad RFI thru the phone line. I cant even
listen to the radio in my car when I pull into the garage when the computer
is turned on. I have checked ground and I have positively identified it as
the modem.

Will a regular telephone RFI filter work if the modem is the source?

If not, then what do I do besides throw out the modem and get a new one?

Thanks all.
