Help! My primary computer has suddenly developed a problem.

I use this system for my admin work on qth.net I have Mcafee 5.15 with the
latest .dat files running on it. I rarely every wander the web and almost never
open an attachment. This system has been getting hit with a lot of viruses as of
late, the clege one mostly. Mcafee alerts me, I delete it and then kill all
files in the 'delted items' folder.

I ran a full scan of every file on the system Tuesday. About 130,300 files in
all. No infected files were found.

I then did something I had not done before, I ran the scan again and this time
instead of moving an infected file to the 'infected' folder, I told Mcafee to
cleanse the virus. Again, it ran four hours and a few minutes and came up with
nothing. I thought all was fine.

I now can not log onto my ISP. It dials, it picks up and then it drops the
connection. The same phone line works with the secondary system on a different
dial up account with the same provider.

I went through the dialup connection settings one by one, nothing has changed.
All is as it was.

I have not installed any new software in many months.

I have not removed any software in a year.

This is Windows 98A on an Intell 450 Mhz machine.

Any ideas as to what has happened here that prevents me from connecting to my
ISP?

Yes, it affects both logging onto the Internet as well as Outlook Express 5.5

Thanks.
