Usually, you can setup IPX/SPX (on both computers)
for that to solve that problem. Just be sure to change
the Network Address (under IPX/SPX) number
to the same on both computers. (Usually to 0)

I had the same problem for a while, but then tried this and it worked.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] WIN XP and WIN 98

Anyone have any problems getting Win 98 and Win XP to talk to each
other??

Here is my problem:

I'm setting at the desktop. I can TX and RX between my laptop fine, but
when I set in front of the Laptop it doesn't want to talk with the
desktop. I can see the desktop, but no go... Any Ideas??? I'm running a
Dual speed hub, both are using 100mbps.... this problem has stumped me
every since January.

Actually to tell you the truth I even have problems talking to other Win
XP machines... I have to go to another desktop machine to tx the files to
the laptop... I'm clueless... Maybe I have something set wrong on the
laptop?? Possible bad NIC Card??

The laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-FXA33.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jonathan/KC8CPW
