I recently upgraded my UPS to one that has a connection to the comm port
and will 'shut down' the computer if the power is off for a programmed
amount of time. Sounded like something I needed...
My problem is the UPS software shuts down the computer in an ungracefull
manner. It quit windows but left the system stuck at a dos like prompt.
A bit later when the UPS shut itself off, another programmable option,
the result was the computer had not really shut down and so it went thru
the disk scan etc on start up.
In the UPS software is a place where I can enter the path to any program
I want to run specifically when the computer is shut down. It seems to
me if there was some windows program that told the computer to absolutely
shut down, this would be a great place to put the program path.
So my question to the group. Does anyone know of such a program in
windows?
Thanks for any and all thoughts.
Jim
