Hello All
I have a question about finding, sorting and indexing file names by "File
Name".

Here's what I have. I'm running a P3 600MHz with the Win98SE operating
system. On my desktop I have a folder titled "Sheet Music" which contains 6
subfolders to sort the music by "style". I.E. Country, Gospel, Blues mood,
Fun etc. These folders contain close to 1,000 .txt files (Notepad), each of
which is a sheet of music containing words and guitar chords (no graphics)
of songs. These files use LONG NAMES.txt to indicate the entire title of
the song. I used Notepad because of it's automatic monospaced font etc (to
keep chords lined up in the right spot).

My Problem is that I can't remember everything I have downloaded and
converted from html to .txt and frequently redownload the same song again
and don't discover it until I convert it to .txt and try to save it.

I NEED a way direct a search program (find etc) that will go out there and
find all file names in a folder and it's subfolders, sort it alphabetically
and then allow me to print that list as an index. Just the filenames, NOT
the contents. I can use "Find" in the start menu to find a specific
filename's location but how do you specify that you want the whole
enchilada? I can't do it under DOS as DOS doesn't recognize the Long
filenames.
