[Ham-Computers] Which Firewall?

Marty,

I had a very bad experience with McAfee Anti-Virus when I tried to
un-install it: It corrupted one of the files I needed for E-Mail access,
and it didn't completely un-install itself. Although the McAfee technicians
sent me a message of five pages of instructions on how to remove the rest of
the McAfee Anti-Virus files, they weren't of any help in figuring out what
went wrong with my E-Mail. Their only suggestion was to completely reload
Windows. It took me several days of searching the Internet to find a
Microsoft bulletin about which file McAfee corrupted, and figure out how to
re-install that corrupted file.

The McAfee technicians acted like it was my own fault for un-installing one
of their products, because I wouldn't have had the problem if I'd left it
installed. But the only reason I had un-installed it was to install a later
version of their same product from scratch. I'll never install another one
of their products on another computer, but I still have a copy of their
Anti-Virus leftover on another of my computers: Although I've disabled it,
I'm afraid to try removing it.
