[Ham-Computers] 255 Character Line Length

Hi All, 	

	When using MS Word or Word Pad, how does one save a document so that the line
length ends up the full string of 255 characters? I have a friend who is somehow
sending me mail he insists looks fine on his screen, but is all run together on
mine. As if he never hit a carriage return anywhere. 	
	
Has he perhaps got the word wrap set to screen instead of the ruler? Maybe word
wrap turned off completely? Or does he not have the margins set on the ruler to
begin with? He is elderly and I am having a great deal of difficulty in
extracting good information from him so I know how to instruct him to fix the
problem.
