Duane,
The player is always "free". However, it's also full of advertisments and hidden setup "defaults" that download a lot of advertising crap. You just need to make sure to un-check all of the default settings when running the installer. Also, after installation, go to the "Preferences" tab and uncheck the "run in system tray" (aka Real Tray) option. It just takes up memory and most people don't notice the extra 2 seconds it takes to load RealPlayer if the tray icon isn't loaded. Another good thing to do us to change the view to "compact". Much less clutter (no side bars, channels, etc).
You can still download the player from http://www.real.com. The "big" download button is for the "Plus" version that costs $$$. There's a really small link on the page for the free version. Just got to dig it out from the rest of the noise.

Subject: [Ham-Computers] Re Free Real Audio Player
At one time there was a free version of the real audio player available. If it
is still out there, would one of you happen to know the url for it? It seems to
me it was version 5.0 Thanks.
