You could make a DOS-bootable flop, with CD-ROM drivers.
Copy the executable to the same flop.
Make every month, or 3 an image on CD.
System crash:
Put CD with latest image in CD-ROM drive.
Put the bootable Ghost fop in drive, start your system.
follow the menu from ghost.
You can even automate it.

Ghost is Made by Symantic. That would work, However, everytime you wanted
to use that image, you would have to install it and Ghost was primarily
designed to work on a network.
