[Ham-Computers] Backup OS on CD

Does anybody know of some software that will allow immediate startup of
your operating system from CD with everything already installed and
operating?

I have lost my system. Bringing it up wasn't so terribly bad, except for
the modem. I couldn''t get that to install for a long time.

Now I am trying to bring up a second hard drive, and I think I am
following the same procedures as before. However, I am again having a
problem getting the modem to install. I wish to have this hard drive in
my machine, non powered (except at backup time), as a backup for the
first hard drive.

Again, if I could get the modem to install, all would be fine.

If I could get software that would take a snapshot of the system while
running, that would be better.
