I thought so, but wasn't for sure, It must be the weak link in both 
receivers.  I have two SX-42 receivers, both given to me some time back. 
The first came with a bad transformer.  The second was a wonderful working 
set until that transformer decided to destruct, catching fire and ruining 
the receiver completely.

The burned one has a good band switch and the first has a bad one.  The one 
of the wafers in the mixer section has been almost ruined by a former golden 
screwdriver type.  It just won't work at all now.  If I ever manage to fix 
it, the first thing I will do is take that transformer out and get a 
replacement that will last.  During his fiddling, he managed to ruin the 
forms of the little transformers for band 5 and 6.  He was a complete 
disaster.

I did install a fuse in the set after getting it, but that didn't help.

I sure like them, but evidently, they are not for me.
