[Hallicrafters] Halicrafters Ringed Knobs

     The tuning knobs for the S-40 and a couple of other 
receivers, have metal trim rings around the periphery. Although I 
must have seen many when the were new (I am pretty old) I can't 
remember what sort of finish they had. I don't think they were 
bright chrome, perhaps satin chrome or nickel. Does anyone know? 
  I would like to restore a few old knobs where the rings are 
badly brassed but would like to make them as authentic as 
possible. Knowing H its likely there were variations but I would 
like to have some idea. Also, has anyone been successful in 
restoring these rings? If so how did you do it.
