[Hallicrafters] SX-101A Question

My 101A has one. Looks like it might be more of a prob to rip off than it’s worth. It’s a heavy beast, not easy on the old body any more. I installed a small value high watt resistor in the AC line to help with the trans heating.  Keeps it reasonable, and doesn’t affect operation that I can see.

I looked at several top view photos of the SX-101A and didn't see
anything on top of a transformer.
If it bothers you, peel, rip, or hammer it off.
