[Hallicrafters] SX-28 Radio Daze dial question

Well, I finally got up enough nerve to tackle the restoration of my SX-28
after many years of procrastination.
I even ordered some of those nice new amber dials from Radio Daze, which
look great, but seem a tad too dark, 
but they're a vast improvement over my originals.
My question is how the heyull do you get the old dials off the hubs so the
new ones can be installed?
I've stared at them a while with an eye-loop and I can't figure it out.

Curiously, I just worked on another SX-28 that already had the dials
installed.
I only did those 11 buried caps in the front end on that one and never asked
how the previous owner did the dial exchange.
I never even had the front panel off it to see.
