I don't see how any RF input to the antenna of the radio could possibly
damage the S-meter, unless there was some strange AC ground fault occurring.

There must be more problems inside if that DID happen.

1st, you must determine if the meter is in fact, defective, both
electrically AND mechanically.

In any event, some other fault in the metering circuit is probably what
you'll find.

Years ago, I did a dumb, hooked up a signal generator to my SX32 and over
did it. I popped the S-meter.

So, I'm either looking for (in order of preference)
A) A good used unit
B) somewhere I can send it for repair
C) info on the movement so I can fix it myself. :)

Also, curious what would a complimentary transmitter haven been for this
unit?
