Fellow members,
So sorry to hear of Duane’s passing😪. He was an amazing fellow whose dedication to our hobby was perhaps best exemplified on these pages.
I’ve been a member of this Forum for 10 years after buying and restoring an old SR-150. He sold me some nice CDs about 7 years ago of some old Bill Halligan interviews.
Funny thing is that I retired from Northrop Grumman in 2008 in San Diego but worked for 7 years in the last Hallicrafter’s facility at 600 Hicks Rd in Rolling Meadows, Illinois where they “pumped out” the last SR-400s and FPM-300’s. Northrop purchased Hallicrafter’s many decades ago and it thrives today in electronic warfare. It was sad to see them jettison the Ham marketplace at the same time as our other mainstay companies (National, Swan, Collins, Atlas, Drake, Heathkit, Gonset...).
Duane will be sorely missed. Godspeed
Best 73,
Mike
