I always used the rule of thumb that if you were measuring a source that was 
delivering significant power than it didn't make a lot of difference but if 
you were trying to measure grid voltage it could be a huge problem. And of 
course everything in between... What one needed to think about was "is my 
meter loading the circuit?".
