[Hallicrafters] SX-15

Sets like that present us with the existential dilemma. Those early Hallicrafters receivers with the German silver dials are extremely cool and perform well. The price is high, but S-15s don't show up for sale every day. Factor in whether you can shoehorn in another radio. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Greg,
Turns out it is the S-15 not the SX-15. I haven't room for it, but I could secure it for another collector if I could get it for the right cost. I'd think $100 might be right. Shipping it to that collector would run about $50 via FedEx.
I already told the guy I am passing on it.
Thank you Greg.

Larry,
The SX-15 Sky Challenger is actually somewhat difficult to find. They hardly ever turn up anymore though occasionally you will spot one on eBay, (perhaps once in two or three years) so I'd say they are now rare. The SX-15 was a mid-priced receiver which appeared around 1936 and was soon succeeded by the more common SX-16 Super Skyrider. SX-15 would probably be more sought after by Hallicrafters collectors wanting to fill a vacant spot in their collection than for its performance as the SX-16 is a more capable receiver in about the same price range.
Unless it is complete and original and the physical condition not really that bad, the receiver you are describing seems overpriced but if you have been looking for one it may warrant a further imvestigation.

There is one in my area for $250, not the best of shape.
