Thank you Ricard, Billy, and Heinz, for your responses. You guys are First
Responders.
I have Chuck's book, somewhere... I seem to have forgotten the X represented
the crystal, this set is just the S-15, my mistake in hearing what the
neighbor said. My first thoughts were $250 was way high for what he had. A
museum fit restoration might fetch $300, maybe, but knowing how my son 29
and his similar aged friends feel: "your stinky old radios," does not bode
well for future values and homes for these things we love.
I have my dad's SX-16 restored by the Great Henry Rogers, when he still did
such and a beautiful and complete SX-28 done by Halli member Nick, both with
matching speakers, the speakers obtained from members on this site. Both
reside in their private room accompanied by a restored S-38A and original
working SX-19R. If it were worth it, the S-15 might have found a home here,
but I need to be very selective so I do not end up like many on the
Hallicrafters and other radio preservation web sites.

I have no idea of prices but this seems high except for a well restored
set. This is actually the S-15 Sky Challenger. It was available with or
without a crystal filter under the same model number.
