If anyone may need one, I have reproduction skirts for the big Hallicrafters
knobs as used on the SX-101 and others.
Physically, they are a perfect match, but are made of spun aluminum instead
of nickel plated brass and are pad printed with the 00 -100 dial markings
instead of engraved.
They also have a clear epoxy coating to protect the finish.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the heads up on the auction. Funny, I had just searched ebay
before joing the list and posting.....
It does look like it has been "modified" so I think I will pass on it.
At least I know they pop up every now and then.
Looking forward to a tube warmed shack this winter!
Tom

Tom,
An SX-101 knob was just listed on eBay. The item number is 131953007298, not
mine and I have no connection with the seller. There were several different
knob styles used during the SX-101 / SX-101A production run; a thin raised
edge, a thick raised edge and fluted. I think the current listed knob on
eBay was supposed to have a thin raised edge which stood up about 1/8"
around the knob and which was very prone to getting chipped and broken away.
This one it looks like the entire edge has been removed, perhaps an attempt
to make it look better but I mention it here so you can see the parts of a
complete knob assembly. The knobs on later SX-101A receivers were the same
style as SX-115 and SX-117.

First post to the list:
Picking up a (new to me) SX-101A later this week. I have not used one of
these since the early 70's and am looking forward to recreating the station
I first used as a novice.
Problem is the receiver I'm buying has a non stock tuning knob. Doing a web
search I'm surprised to find that these knobs don't seem to be available
anywhere.
Is this true??
Any suggestions for locating one or a type that looks good on the radio,
maybe the SX-117 style?
Regards,
Tom
