Bob what Mark speaks about is the voltage and resistance tables that are in
the manual. If you have them, follow the directions that accompany to make
the measurement. That will check a number of them, but there are others
that cannot be checked in circuit.
Most of the radios I fool with do not have that table so I look to see where
the circuit goes to decided how to measure. For example a resistor tied to
a grid of the tube then grounded can be measured in circuit. It is time
consuming but the only way I have. I have never looked at the 101 book but
if it has that table as Mark says, then follow it. There may be resistors
that you cannot measure and if that is the case remove one lead from the
circuit and use a meter to measure it. For example to measure a bleeder
resistor you have a capacitor in parallel which will take a bit of time to
charge. In that case eventually you will read the bleeder value, maybe
depending on what else is in the circuit. I remove the lead on the HV then
measure the resistor to ground.
Now the nice thing is there is a multitude of guys here who have a lot of
experience with the subject radio. If you have a question just ask. Any of
them will be more than glad to work with you to get the radio operating as
it should. That is a fine radio and will sound very good when everything is
right.

Well Jim,
Im very glad you brought that up. That is certainly a question I was
going to pose to the reflector soon. Now that you brought it up, I will
pose my question now.
So, walk me through them
with patience please as everyone always has. I have read many articles
from others saying they found numerous resistors out of spec. How does
one do that? Do you snip one end of the resistor in a circuit to see if
it is still in spec or is there another way without practically tearing
the whole radio apart. Seems to me, a resistor in a circuit is going to
have a different value than one that is just sitting on the table not
hooked to anything. Im ready for the input. I would love to keep
improving this radio to get it up to new like working condition if at
all possible.
Thanks-Bob-W0YBS
