Hi Ross:

You are right about that radio and your opinion is absolutely correct.

The SX-117 and the SR-150 are a couple of the quietest radios out there. 
Mostly as a result of the 1st I.F. tuning along with the VFO.  Ever think of 
using the SR-150 as a receiver?

Another quality of the SX-117 is the noise limiter.  It's really a noise 
blanker that works as well as most modern blankers.

There should be no reason that the SX-117 noise limiter design cannot be 
used in the SX-100.  It would be a super enhancement and it's incredibly 
simple.

For what it is worth (nothing), I have owned two different SX-117's that
have since been sold...not due to their performance. I would say they were
one of the quietest receivers that I've ever owned, and that was not due to
a lack of sensitivity. They were a pleasure to use.
