Jack,

It sounds from what you say that it is the tube rectifiers that cause shorted transformers.

Can you tell us more about why and what happens?  How do the tube rectifiers cause shorts in the transformer, and where do the shorts show up?

The list members and I would appreciate hearing about the “more to do”.  Thanks in advance for posting it to the list.

Mike reports this:

>  Switching to MOX and gradually applying rf while peaking drive and final tune, I get about 10 watts out at 800 volts with plate current measuring about 200 ma. The plate current at this point starts to rise slowly but accelerates rapidly.

Have you got some ideas as to why this is happening?
