Thanks Bob, appreciate your reply.  

The last person that custom made filters for me was Mel on the west coast, but his plant burned a few years back.  

Sad note that brings a tear to my eye.  Last I talked to Mel, he was in his eighties.  He was an avid hang glider and ultra light pilot and had built a Pterodactyl ultra light in the plant.  Always was going to test fly it tomorrow but tomorrow was not to be.  Anyone heard from him lately?

Jim,

Stoner and Transworld both used 1650 kc as the low (or only) IF in many 
of their mil/commercial SSB radios.
