Subject: [Hallicrafters] S-20R

I have a S-20R who's oscillator refuses to oscillate on band
4. Okay on other bands. I have replaced the oscillator coil
and cleaned the switch; no change. The 10ohm resistor is
okay. I have not changed the 6K8 (which works in another
S-20R). I'm clearly overlooking something obvious - any
suggestions?

The 10 ohm resistor is on band 1, the broadcast band and
is a parasitic stopper. Have you re-capped this receiver? If
not that may be the fix. Check all the resistors around the
6K8 but anything like a slightly leaky bypass cap could
cause problems. Also make sure the trimmer caps are not
shorting. I would try another 6K8 just to make sure. Did
the coil you replaced have problems, if not it would have
been my last choice of something to replace.
