More times than not, it all comes down to how well the shipper pack the
contents of said box.
I have shipped items for thirty years and UPS has the best track record for
me by far. I had two water sensitive items left outside in the rain by FedX
the past two weeks. They could have left the boxes on the covered front
porch, why they did not, who knows! UPS does not leave it if I, or someone,
does not answer the door. They bring it back.
It is a fair amount of work on the shipper's part to pack an outbound box
properly. If it weighs over sixty pounds it also can get costly.
I had a local box manufacturing company make me two dozen commercial
shipping boxes with a burst strength of 275+ pounds. They truly had double
walls.
It was much more expensive than just using any old cardboard box that was
handy, but I rarely had an item damaged during shipping either.
Why buy an expensive product and then complain about it getting damaged
during shipping because it cost forty bucks, or whatever, to ship it!
