Make a copy of it first on your scanner in high definition and clean up the crack and any defects in photoshop. Buy decal paper like the Model train guys use to put decals on the locomotives. You can take the scan and print it out on the decal paper using a color laser printer if its has color, a regular laser if its just black or find someone with an ALPS MD-5000 printer which will print to the decal paper. When wet the decal paper will dislodge a thin layer of plastic sheet which will stick to the new glass just like when you built models as a kid. Don't forget to invert the image so its on the inside of the glass. You can give it a very thin coat of clear to give it some protection from cleaning and handling, just don't lay the clear on heavy, dust it the first few times. If you do this right, nobody will be able to tell the copy from the original..

Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX96 dial glass repair
HI -
I picked up an SX96 parts radio that was missing, among other things, a
bandspread dial glass, but found that someone had saved it, in cardboard
inside the radio. ANd the radio is now receiving on the AM band, so I'm trying
CPR.
The glass has one clean break down the center. Has anyone had any luck
gluing a dial glass like this back together?
Or should I just try to get a mask made up for it to put on a new piece of
glass?
Or better ideas?
Thanks, Scott
