 Yes it was changed, the 4 pin fits in with little modification. The connector is cheap and local. The 2 pin amphenol is expensive and the sellers know they are hard to find. I bought two at 12-15 bucks each, thats why it was changed. You can put it back to a 2 pin, but bend over when you go to buy the connector... lol

My SR-500 also has the Amphenol 2 pin mic connector as do most of my other  
SR Series transceivers.  The shell is ground and the connecting ring must  
be securely fastened to assure a good connection.
