[Hallicrafters] How To Unsolder Can Capacitors (or anything else?)

I finally got the can loose. I unsoldered a whole bunch of wires to move 
them out of the way and then used my 220W electric iron that uses a 
great big chunk of copper for a tip. That melted the solder in a hurry.

I sure wish the EPA hadn't screwed things up by eliminating asbestos. 
Some of that asbestos paper for a heat shield would have made things easier.
