Lubricating the pulleys may have caused problems!  If any oil, etc., got on the dial cord it may definitely slip.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Dial stringing woes

I managed to get my recent SX110 find cleaned up and playing again, but I'm
having quite a time restringing the bandspread dial.  I'm using real dial
cord and scuffed up the spindle that the knob is attached to, but it still
slips badly, especially going from right to left.  I cleaned and lubed the
little pulleys and the tuning cap and gears.  There is quite a bit of
tension on the line from the spring.  Any ideas?
