?Hank's repro bezels were pretty?good and while I?saw occassional comments?I never heard any serious complaints but they were not faithful to the originals. The originals had a compound radius at the?outer vertical side?frame of each?glass which would be impossible to duplicate by a CNC machine not running 5-axis simultaneous tool paths. Hank's bezels were run on a 3-axis machining center. If you are going to make repros again why not avoid that drawback and make them look more correct by copying an original??Granted, Hank's bezels were a 99% improvement over a warped one.
?

Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX-88 Bezel Reproduction
There is a possibility that SX-88 reproduction bezels may be available
again.
Years ago Hank (Dan) Arney had them made in CA out of machined aluminum.
Unfortunately, the company went out of business and the software is no
longer available. But, a friend in OK is researching alternative methods to
create new bezels. They would look like the old and new ones and be powder
coated in black. I have one of the last reproduction bezels to use as a
sample.
The last bezels, machined out of aluminum sold for around $300 and all were
sold. The cost of these is yet TBD. They may be less, depending on the
process used to make the new ones. More information will be available soon.
If you would be interested in purchasing one or more bezels please let me
know. No obligation at this point, just a body count.
