Subject: [Hallicrafters] BUDROC Capacitors

Hi,

Do White BUDROC (.01/400v) capacitors fall in the same
category as Black Beauties - Replace Them ?
Thanks.

What equipment are these in? I found one listing that
states they are paper dielectric. Cornell-Dubilier is still
in business but does not list any paper dielectric caps
among their products. Perhaps they can date the things.
Black Beauty caps were made by Sangamo, a well respected
company. Evidently the early ones had a production problem
which caused wide spread early failures. They were very
widely used in high quality equipment. In some cases they
are still good but all paper caps deteriorate with age so
for the most part should be replaced.
