Greetings,
First, may all of your dreams be analog and all of your nightlights be from
vacuum tubes glowing in a Halli!
I need several of you Hallicrafters lovers to assist me in doing a Special
Event for Halloween. If my Braille calendar is correct, (my two grandsons
aged nine and ten take immense delight in poking the raised dots flat so as
to baffle Grandpa!), Halloween falls on Wednesday October 31st Therefore, I
think participation might be greater among the Ham community if we did the
Happy Halli-Ween event on Tuesday October 30th. Your thoughts?
It would be fantastic if one of you with artistic talents would design a
clever QSL card just for Halloween. Naturally your name, and call sign if
you are a Ham, will appear on the card. Your artistic talents are
appreciated and should rightfully be thanked publically.
Please do NOT be shy! We need your artistic talents to make the special
Happy Halli-Ween day card happen!
I also need two of you to be Co-NCS operators with me. I am in southeastern
Michigan and have a directional antenna and legal limit amplifier. Maybe
some of you in the midwest, southwest, southeast and northeast could take a
forty-five minute shift?
If I kick it off and do the first hour, then two of you could each do
forty-five minutes, a total of ninety minutes, turn it back to me for
another hour. Then both of you, or two different Hams, do another two
forty-five minute sets. Then I will wrap it up with a thirty minute segment.
This gives us a total on the air time of 5.5 hours. Say from 4:00 PM EDT
until 9:30 PM EDT.
All who want a special Happy Halli-Ween day QSL card can send their QSL card
and a SASE or a reception report and a SASE. If correct, I will get some
little Gremlins running around here to fill out the special QSL card and get
them mailed.
I am open to your suggestions! So please feel free to send them along! I
have a very large wastebasket! (LOL!) Just teasing -
I am also pondering doing a second Special Event to
honor Bill Halligan on his one hundred and fourth birthday on December 8th.
Bill was born in South Boston, MA on December 8, 1898.
If any of you would like to volunteer to help with this one, please contact
me. The more, the merrier! After all, it tis a party!
