I worked with some police departments years ago, first as a radio tech and
later as a prosecutor. That gave me the opportunity to talk with some old
timers about the good ole days.
They told me that their first police car radios were just receivers and
received broadcasts from the station. To me that explained the origin of the
term "2-way radio."
