[Hallicrafters] SX43 variations

I bought a second SX43 at Dayton for parts, turns out it is cleaner than one I have been working on. Seller said it had no audio. It worked when I turned it on and after recapping it has fair performance. Alignment hasnt been done yet. 

Question: new (to me) radio has some differences. First the bandspread escutheon is brown plastic unlike the black plastic on the old one. Second the knobs have slotted set screws rather than the reverse spline set screws of the other. I assume this is an early model. Data tag is missing or torn on both.
