There is no "Stu" or "Stuart" Cowan listed in the search function at QRZ.com.

Sanford Cowan was eventually the sole owner of CQ (including the magazine and book publishing), having been one of the founders of CQ when the magazine "morphed" from the old "Radio Magazine" in 1945.  CQ underwent a number of "in-fighting, etc., and went through several editors and publishers during the first couple of years of being in business.  Sanford eventually gained financial control of the magazine.  His son, Richard, was the publisher of CQ for a number of years.  At the time, the business was known as Cowan Publishing Company.  The company didn't become CQ Communications until after the Cowans sold it.

I knew both Sanford and Richard when I was the first FM Editor of CQ (from January 1971 until September 1973).
