[Hallicrafters] SX-100 vs SX-88

I agree, and did not intend to come down hard on the SX-100; they
certainly are good receivers. A quote by James Millen might apply to receivers
targeted toward the mid price range: "When a receiver is designed to sell for a
lower price one must expect compromises had to be made." The SX-100 did
reflect many SX-88 design features and performs well but engineers did it
with lower cost parts.

The SX-100 is a general coverage receiver and a very good one! It was
never
intended to be in the same league with the SX-88. About all they share in
common is the fantastic tuning. Smooth as silk!
