Subject: [From Your Hallicrafters Reflector] FS: Hallicrafters S38C Receiver

FOR SALE: Extra nice S38C shortwave receiver - many hams used these as their very first receiver.

Very good condition. All original knobs etc. The S38C uses six tubes, and has a metal cabinet and built-in speaker. Its compact size and low cost maakes this a very attractive set. The S-38 models were in production until 1961.

Despite its simplicity, the S-38 is a "hot" radio, offering good sensitivity. Like more expensive shortwave receivers, it has a separate bandspread tuner, automatic noise limiter (ANL), and beat frequency oscillator (BFO) for CW listening. It covers frequencies from .54 Mhz to 32 Mhz in four bands.

With distinctive semi-circular dials, the S-38 through S-38C models are very recognizable. The S-38C has cool-looking shiny gray, hammertone paint. Excellent working condition.

Available for $65.00 plus shipping. USA only.
