Good news, Burt. I was willing to bet it was one of the two
oscillators or a mixer which will a single-point failure on all bands.
Congratulations on solving the problem, and more importantly, for
finding it yourself and adding to your skills for the future!
When I tackle "no output" proboems on most SSB rigs I start by verifying
that both VFO and Heterodyne Oscillator signals are present at their
respective mixers. There have been times when something as simple as a
missing jumper plug for an external VFO has been the culprit and it's an
easy check. On the HT-32 and -37 you can also couple a general
coverage receiver to the 9 mhz exciter cable and verify that the exciter
is working, and to make sure the VFO has output in the 5 to 5.5 mhz range.
I'm sure you'll enjoy having this great station back on the air.
