I did as I'm sure many others did in the day. My trips were to Allied Radio 
on N Western Ave in Chicago and H+H on Kishwaukee St in Rockford, Il,  (a 
ham radio store).

Man, can you imagine walking into a store and being able to buy all those 
great sets (and parts) at those prices?
