Re-creating the accurate fonts should keep you busy enough. Several
issues arise in trying to replicate paint, not least of which is that
colors varied with every manufacturer I've ever seen. Some more than
others, but there are differences. And as you know or would find out,
someone will always be unhappy, expecting a the color to be the same
as the aged panel or cabinet they sent to you instead of 'new'. So my
guess is that you made the right choice in focusing on the
screen/panel lettering. You can no doubt deal with paint on a local
level if the needs arises or you choose to offer it at a later date.
Much progress has been made in even the last ten years for color
matching and mixing.

Ha! If it was that simple, everyone would be doing their own. I'm
still trying to figure out a good system for re-creating decals used
on old transformers, chassis back aprons, and so on. It also seems
like it should be easier than it really is.
